While free programs are tempting, if you’re serious about keeping your system safe, then you should choose a paid option. There are both free and paid options available, with differing degrees of features, cost, and effectiveness at keeping threats at bay. Should You Choose Paid or Free Antivirus for Mac? To keep your system safe and secure, it’s best to augment the native Apple security with good virus protection for Mac.
But the steady growth of Mac use, along with comparable code in iOS and its widespread use in smartphones, has eroded some of this advantage and protection.
Naturally, those who were focused on causing havoc or making a buck with illicit activities wanted to get the most for their work, so they targeted the Windows PC environment.
One of the key benefits that Macs have enjoyed for a long time in this area is that they were the minority of users and systems out there. Malware, vulnerabilities from older programs, and innovative viruses and other threats are popping up all of the time. While Apple’s built-in security features are superior to those of Windows-based systems, and they do a good job of preventing many threats, they are not invincible. It’s a myth that Macs are immune to viruses and malware, so yes, virus protection for Macs is a very real thing. The add-ins offer more features (and can offer a high return on investment) if you sync a lot, but for one time use, a macro is quick and effective. You have two choices: a macro or an add-in. When you import Contacts (or sync with a smartphone) the birthdays are not added to the calendar.

When you create a new contact and specify a birth date, Microsoft Outlook automatically creates a recurring annual event in the Calendar folder for contact's birthday, but it doesn't set a reminder unless you have Outlook set to add a reminder to all new appointments (and in that case, it uses the default reminder time, usually 15 minutes). There is also a VBA sample there to remove the events from the calendar as soon as the Contact creates it. See Removing Birthdays and Anniversaries for an easy way to remove the dates from Contacts and the events from the Calendar.
See the Tools below for utilities that can trigger the update.
In order to have them added you need to either edit the contact's name (clicking the Full Name button and saving the contacts is sufficient) or edit the Birthday and Anniversary fields to trigger an update. However, if you import a contact list or sync with a handheld device, these events are not created in the calendar. Note that if you do this, Outlook may recreate it at some point. Put the dates in the Notes field or a user defined field. If you don't want the events added to your calendar, don't enter dates in the birthday and anniversary fields.
